High in the heart of the Sicilian Apennines, Castellucci Miano thrives on mountain vineyards that reach over 1,000 meters in elevation. Drawing vital freshness from this altitude and rooted in mineral-rich, poor soils of sand, clay, and silt, Piero Buffa has been crafting organic mountain wines here since 2008.
This is Sicily’s highest vineyard site after Mount Etna—and arguably the most challenging environment for growing grapes. Yet it’s the perfect playground for Nero d’Avola, which reveals exceptional finesse in this unique terroir. |

Made with minimal added sulfur, the 2024 Valledolmo Contea di Sclafani Miano Catarratto White opens with a fresh, inviting nose—blending soft minty notes and wildflowers. On the palate, it’s lively and textured, energized by a gentle touch of natural effervescence that offsets the lack of sulfur without compromising quality. This is a light, refreshing white that combines finesse, saline lift, and delicate bitterness. Perfect as an apéritif or alongside seafood. Rated 92/100 by the Selection Committee. |
