The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine Founded in 2011 by Michel Chevré, then vineyard manager for Thierry Germain, Clos de l’Ecotard has quickly become one of the Loire Valley’s undisputed benchmarks. Now joined by his son Thibaud, they craft some of the purest, most dazzling wines in the region, all from certified organic vineyards and guided by biodynamic principles. These are true terroir wines, vinified with remarkable precision and aged to perfection in barrels or amphorae.

Awarded 2 stars by the prestigious French wine guide the RVF, this cutting-edge estate never fails to impress and delight. Both its whites and reds shine with an almost magical purity, shaped with tact and restraint. No wonder wine lovers scramble to get their hands on a few bottles.
Wine Blending three parcels of sandy and limestone soils, the 2022 Saumur Red offers a suave, subtle take on cabernet franc, lifted by a hallmark touch of tuffeau and wonderfully fresh fruit. This is an utterly charming red, already approachable, crafted with care through a short maceration to achieve delicate tannins and a vibrant, juicy profile. The estate’s signature style shines through, preserved by ageing in barrels with no new oak and in jars, delivering precision, finesse and energy. In magnum format, its generosity and convivial spirit are at their peak. Rated 93/100 by the prestigious French wine guide the RVF.
Vinification Hand-harvested from 50 to 60-year-old vines, this wine blends three parcels from Fosse-Bellay and Courchamps. It undergoes a short 20-day maceration with minimal extraction, followed by 5 months of ageing — 67% in tank, 30% in barrels and 3% in stoneware jars.

The parcels are currently in organic conversion.
